ABOUT US
Just a couple of wayward skydivers sharing our hopes and dreams together. Living our best lives. We’re both nature lovers with a probably unhealthy relationship with our pups. The girls are our “dogters”. We are a family of four. They’re completely spoiled and neither of us is ashamed to admit it. Not having children ourselves, we have nothing better (or more important) to do than keeping our pups entertained and engaged at all times. In doing so, they keep us pretty engaged and entertained in return. It’s a symbionic relationship. We are a very happy family unit. We’re enjoying the journey and cherrishing all the friendships with other humans we meet along our path. There have been many. We both feel lucky to have the very BEST friends, members of our extended family, in the whole wide world!
Meet the Fletchers
As of 2024, the Fletchers are Gary, Penny, Lily and Denver. We’re a mid-western family of 4 comprised of 2 adults and 2 dogs. We live in a small town just outside of Springfield, MO.
Gary Fletcher
Gary first started out a son, then a brother. He was a cub scout then a boy scout. He was an honor student, an athlete and a high school graduate. By this time he was also a photographer. He was a college dropout who then went on to become an artist, an IT guru, a graphic designer, a skydiver, an instructor, a film maker. Today his most cherrished titles are a dog dad and a husband.
Penny Fletcher
Wife, echocardiographer, skydiving instructor, puzzler. Beautiful inside and out. Lover of animals of every kind. Best friend ANYONE could ever have.
Lily Fletcher
Lily is an American Labrador Retriever. She is a ball lover extraordinaire. Her favorite past time in the world is playing fetch. She is inquisitive and sees everything. She is a lover. Her only desire in life is to have her belly rubbed, unless you break out a tennis ball.
Denver Fletcher
Denver is an English Labrador Retriever. Denver is a total clutz that spends as much time on her back as she does her feet. Her favorite past time seems to be to irritate Lily. She’s a total cutie pie wiggle butt that always looks sad but seems to be completely fat and happy. Lazy is as lazy does is probably her personal motto.
Labrador Retrievers
The sweet-faced, lovable Labrador Retriever is one of America's most popular dog breeds. Labs are friendly, outgoing, and high-spirited companions who have more than enough affection to go around for a family looking for a medium-to-large dog.
A Labrador Retrievers measure from 21.5 to 24.5 inches at the shoulder and can weigh between 50 and 80 pounds. Their dense, hard coat comes in yellow, black, chocolate and many shades in-between. These are commonly referred to as white, champagne, fox red, silver, etc. Their heads are wide. Their eyes seem to always have a glimmer of kindliness or empathy. The thick, tapering 'otter tail’ usually signals the breeds temperament and eagerness. Labs are famously friendly. They are companionable housemates who forge bonds with the whole family. They socialize well with neighbor dogs and humans alike. A Lab is an enthusiastic athlete that requires lots of exercise. Swimming and marathon games of fetch are usually what is called for to keep them physically and mentally fit.
The Fletcher Labradors from 1975 - 2023
Gary has had a yellow labrador retriever in his home since he was 5 years old. In 1975, the Fletcher family adopted Sandy "Fetchem" Fletcher and brought her home at about 4 weeks of age. Since that time there have only been a handful of years in his life that a yellow lab wasn’t present in his home. He hopes to never repeat those lonely years when he didn’t have a hairy, yellow best friend to spend them with. After Sandy came Rusty. Penny had a lab mix before she became a Fletcher. His name was Einstein. When Penny and Gary got together they had Belle. Today it’s Lily and Denver.
Sandy
Sandy was Fletch’s very first lab. They grew up together from the time Fletch was 5 years old until he was 15.
Rusty
Rusty was Fletch’s best buddy all through high school and for years to come. They went and did everything together up until the bitter end when Rusty passed in his arms.
Einstein
Einstein was Penny first dog as an adult on her own. Full of character and smart as a whip. Einstein was the rock she needed though some difficult times. He was also the best friend she shared all the good times with.
Belle
Belle was Gary and Penny’s first dogter. She was there from the very beginning of their relationship and lived to the ripe old age of 15 1/2. She was an extemely good girl whom is missed everyday.
